Highest-quality Japanese rice in the heart of California

Conservation is part of who we are. With 5,600 acres permanently protected, every decision is made with care for the land, the water, and the wildlife that depend on it.

Growing rice for generations, and generations to come

Montna Farms is both a family story and a vision for the future of agriculture. For decades, we’ve farmed rice in California’s Sacramento Valley with one goal in mind: to leave the land better than we found it.

Rooted in rice

We have always been a rice family

Our family began farming in the Valley in 1884, and since then, Montna Farms has grown into a vertically integrated operation, managing every step from seed to shipment. While much has changed, our conviction has not: farming done right can nourish people, sustain wildlife, and strengthen communities.

Innovation
on the farm

Innovation keeps us finding new ways to produce super high-premium rice while supporting the species that share our land. Our farm has become a living lab for practices that improve both agriculture and the environment.

This will always be a rice ranch

Thanks to our ongoing research and thousands of acres under conservation easements, this is true. Today, our innovative approach to rice farming ensures high-quality rice is grown with care for both the environment and our community.
