Highest-quality Japanese rice in the heart of California

We believe that great rice and responsible farming go hand in hand. This belief is what allows us to maintain our high standards of quality in our crops.

Super-premium short grain rice

Montna Farms is known for growing some of the highest-quality short grain rice in the U.S.. Our rice is prized for its consistency and flavor, qualities that make it the choice of top chefs and premium buyers around the world.

Traceable from seed to shipment

Montna Farms is a vertically integrated rice operation. That means we manage every stage until it’s in the hands of our partners.

Through our partnership with American Commodity Company (ACC), our rice is expertly milled and delivered to markets around the globe.

Innovation
on the farm

Innovation keeps us finding new ways to produce super high-premium rice while supporting the species that share our land. Our farm has become a living lab for practices that improve both agriculture and the environment.

Conservation easements

5,600 acres permanently protected, 68% of our such lands in the Sacramento Valley.

Biodiversity-friendly

Water held 2x longer than industry norms, providing habitat for 230+ species.

Methane reduction

Alternative wetting and drying methods, cutting emissions by up to 60%.

The Montna Farms legacy

Every bag of Montna rice reflects a process we oversee from start to finish. By handling every step ourselves –growing, drying, storing, milling, and marketing –we maintain consistency, traceability, and quality that few farms can replicate.

Wetlands for wildlife

By holding water 2x longer than industry standards, our fields become seasonal wetlands. These are critical resting and feeding grounds for ducks, geese, and 230+ species on the Pacific Flyway.

Stronger salmon runs

Strategic water releases reconnect rivers with rice-rich floodplains. Studies show juvenile salmon feeding downstream from our fields grow three times larger than those without access.

Healthier land & air

Reincorporating rice straw adds 4–5 tons of organic matter per acre each year, restoring soil health and providing nutrients for wildlife while reducing emissions.
